Descent at Dusk
Captured during an evening bird shoot, this image freezes a moment I never saw coming. A kookaburra emerged from the shadows, wings stretched wide in near-silent flight, descending with precision onto a weathered perch. The landing was sudden, instinctive, and over in an instant. I had only one chance to capture it.
In post-processing, I enhanced the natural interplay of light to echo the energy and grace of that moment. Subtle shafts of light were used to accentuate the wings’ motion, drawing attention to the rhythmic spread of feathers mid-flight. The result blurs the line between stillness and movement, offering a glimpse of action that feels almost cinematic.
The surrounding darkness serves as a natural stage, isolating the bird and allowing its presence to command full attention. Descent at Dusk is not only about the subject, but the atmosphere it carries: a fusion of wild instinct, fleeting motion, and the quiet drama of dusk.
Printed on museum-grade archival paper, this piece is available in a limited edition of 200 in each size, except for A1. Only 30 are available on this website. Each piece is signed, numbered, and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
