Galactic Window – Australia Rock, Narooma
This image captures the iconic Australia Rock in Narooma under a breathtaking night sky, where the Milky Way arches perfectly above the natural window carved through stone. It's a striking alignment of land and sky—one shaped by time, the other by light.
The scene is a composite: 6 exposures for the light-painted foreground to highlight the texture and form of the rock, and a 15-shot panorama for the sky, allowing the full galactic arc to stretch across the frame in stunning clarity.
But capturing this moment wasn’t without challenge. The tide was rising fast, and every passing minute narrowed the path back to shore. By the time the final exposures were taken, I found myself isolated behind the rock—cut off by the surging water. With no clear return, the only option was to climb and jump back through the iconic opening itself to reach the safety of the land.
Galactic Window isn’t just a photograph—it’s the result of precision, timing, and a little adrenaline. A rare and fleeting intersection of earth, sea, and stars.
Printed on museum-grade archival paper, this piece is available in a limited edition of 200 in each size, except for A1. Only 30 are available on this website. Each piece is signed, numbered, and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
